To All Prospective Members:

Forrest’s Escort / SCV Camp 2039 is registered as a non-profit corporation of Tennessee,
whose general purpose is to serve as an educational vehicle in the portrayal of the Civil
War Cavalrymen who fought a died for General Nathan Bedford Forrest. We also
portray the men that fought for the 5th Tenn. U.S. We represent the very best Cavalry
Company on either side of the great conflict. General Bedford Forrest's hand picked body
guard from Lincoln and Bedford Counties, Tennessee, also known as J. C. Jackson's
Tennessee Cavalry Company, or just plain Forrest's Escort Company. Our company
consists of mounted, dismounted and artillery troopers.
Our main purpose is living history. We offer a unique program utilizing the drill manuals of
the 1800s, along with other resources such as period photos, reports and books for our
military impressions. The members are trained in the use of arms and equipment used by
cavalry soldiers during that time. Equipment used is either original or exact reproductions.
Reenacting is a great hobby for men, women or the entire family. Mounted cavalry and
cavalry that has dismounted to enter the battlefield to fight on foot, then to remount and
ride to fight another day (no horse needed). We also have non-military persons performing
civilian impressions: men, women and children.  There are many ways to enjoy this hobby.
Our unit participates in battle reenactments, parades, school events, memorial services,
movie appearances and much more. Do you like sitting around a camp fire? Enjoying a
night camping? This is a chance to do it 1860's style. Camp life, cooking, drill, weapons
and equipment, and entertainment will all bring you back in time to the 1860's. If you would
like information on our unit, by all means get in touch with us as soon as possible; but
remember, you will be portraying the best unit to ever take the field in the War Between the
States.
